We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in our company and our products. We would like to inform you about how your data is collected, processed and used in the section below.

It is perfectly possible to visit Volkswagen AG websites without giving us any information about your identity. In this case, we will only automatically collect the following log data:

  1. IP-Adress
  2. The web browser you are using

  5. The website from which you came to us.

C. Recording, processing and using your personal data

I. Integration of content made available via YouTube LLC

This website uses YouTube as a provider for video integration. The videos have been embedded in an extended data protection mode. Like most sites, YouTube also uses cookies to collect information on visitors to their website. This results in a connection being established with the Google DoubleClick network. If you start the video, this could initiate additional data processing operations. Volkswagen AG has no control over this.
Please refer to the YouTube privacy policy for further information about the purpose and extent of the collection, processing and usage of data by YouTube LLC, headquartered at 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, and the relevant rights and settings options available to you with regard to the protection of your privacy:

II. How personal data from the Chat Bot is recorded, processed and used

The digital assistant (Chat Bot) can provide answers to technical queries you may have about We Connect Go. The Chat Bot is activated by clicking on the chat symbol. If the answers stored in the Chat Bot do not resolve your query, you have the option to connect to one of our chat agents. You can use this service without providing us with any personal information. Only your session ID will be stored for quality assurance purposes. If you do, however, decide to share personal information in the chat, we have the following measures in place to protect it:

  • Our system will automatically scan any content you add to the chat for personal data to avoid such information being stored. The system recognises certain sequences of numbers such as postcodes, house numbers and vehicle identification numbers (VIN). Any postcodes and house numbers detected are deleted automatically and are not stored. The system will also automatically pseudo-anonymise the VIN by removing the last six digits. This shortened VIN then only allows us to recognise the product line, vehicle model and year of manufacture, which makes it impossible to link the number to a particular vehicle and therefore a particular person (owner, user of the vehicle).
  • In summary, all personal data – with the exception of your first name and surname, your address (excluding the postcode and house number) and pseudo-anonymised vehicle identification number – will be automatically deleted by the system when the chat is closed and will not be stored.

D. Tracking Tools

I. Adobe Analytics

This website uses the Adobe Analytics web analytics service to evaluate user access. Data are processed for the purpose of advertising, market research or for the needs-oriented design of our application (pursuant to Paragraph 15, Section 3 of the German Telemedia Act). For this evaluation, cookies are stored on your mobile device. These are used to collect information which is stored on the servers of Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited (“Adobe”). It is not possible to rule out access to this information by Adobe Systems Incorporated, whose headquarters are in the USA, so a corresponding EU Standard Contract has been concluded (adequate guarantee for data processing in non-EU countries). You have the right to information within the scope of this standard contract.
You may withdraw your consent to the collection and processing of this data at any time with immediate effect by preventing the storage of cookies through changing your browser settings. In addition, you may withdraw your consent to the processing of this data by clicking on the following link. Please note that withdrawing your consent using a cookie will only work if your browser settings allow the use of cookies. If you delete this cookie, use a different browser or switch device, you will need to opt out of the use of Adobe Analytics once again. Please note that by deleting all cookies, you will also delete the aforementioned cookie and will need to reinstall it. More information on cookies is available in our Cookie guidelines.
It is not possible to link the information stored on the Adobe servers directly to a specific person, since Adobe Analytics is used with the "Before Geo-Lookup: Replace visitor's last IP octet with 0" and "Obfuscate IP-Removed" settings selected. The "Before Geo-Lookup: Replace visitor's last IP octet with 0" setting ensures that the IP address is anonymised before this geolocalisation by replacing the final octet of the IP address with zeroes. For the purposes of statistical evaluation, the user's approximate location is added to the tracking package, which still contains the full IP address. Before the tracking package is saved, the IP address is then replaced with an individual, fixed IP address – referred to as a generic IP address – if the "Obfuscate IP –Removed" setting has been configured. This means that the IP address is no longer contained in a data set that is saved.
